  • All-Cedar Rapids Metro Rotary BLOOD DRIVE organized by Sunrise Rotary was completed! 15 donations helping 60 people. Thank you!
  • Matthew 25 Transform Week June 21-25:  This is our community service partner. Signup here. Choose any days or half-days, and indicate "Sunrise Rotary" as your organization. 
  • Sunset Social - Thursday June 24 - 5pm to?? at Cedar Ridge Winery. 
  • Make-A-Wish Wish Upon a Par golf event rescheduled to July 8, 11AM. Event registration is available here. Rotarians - reserve the day to volunteer - watch for the signup email. 
  • Want to be a future Rotary leader?  Apply for the Rotary Zone Institute in Houston Sept 9-12.  Expenses are covered by Rotary. 
Matthew 25 Transform Week 6/21-25
Sunrise Rotary is a community service partner with Matthew 25.
 
Transform Week 2021:
Matthew 25 gathers 300-400 volunteers to help 22 low income homeowners with repairs in the Taylor and Time Check areas. "Transform a Home, Transform a Life".  Read more here
 
Sunrise Rotary joins the effort every year, to volunteer at our community service partner. 
 
June 21-25.  See if you can work Mon, Tues, or Wed and we can work a project together. Or, any day you are able.   Be sure to list "Sunrise Rotary" as your organization when you register.

Check-in (morning or noon) and the included Lunch is at the Urban Farm at 437 G Ave NW.   Bring your own assorted tools, or use those provided. 
 
Sunrise Rotary Grant Applications
Sunrise Rotary applied for THREE grants for the next 12 months.   We will see how the Rotary District Grant Committee responds. 
  • Catherine McAuley Center.   Equip their new childcare center, enabling parents to learn without distractions. 
  • Abbe Health/Aging Services.  Prepare 10 at-home older adults to use tablets to connect to others. 
  • ChildServe Coralville.  Assist with purchasing Speech Therapy Apps to help non-verbal children. 
Responses should arrive around August 1.  Sunrise Rotarian volunteers will be engaged on any projects we have funded. 
Rotary Blood Drive Report
Thank you all Rotarians and friends for donations. 
 
Donating from our group since the end of May brought in 15 donations! GREAT work! Altogether our in-center drive will help up to 60 patients.
 
Inventories are SO low this month.  There is a critical need for O-, O+, A-, A+, and B+!   Thank you for donating this summer.  Donors will really make a HUGE impact. The week before our drive actually had the lowest turnout of donors since the beginning of the pandemic.  So our week could not have come at a better time.

Megan Lenss - Exchange Student Update
Megan will join us on an upcoming Thursday.  Megan Lenss was our Outbound Rotary Exchage Student to Spain around 2015.  Read this great news.  
 
Megan is a University of Iowa Presidential Scholar.  In addition to this rare distinction, Megan has now won a Fullbright Scholarship.  Her graduate studies will be in Oceanography in Tromsø, Norway!!
