All Rotary Clubs Helped on Cedar Lake Trail Cleanup

Thank you Sunrise members!
3 Sunrise District Grants - Time get working!
Three grants are approved. We will have a lead Rotarian on each grant as we work as a team, together.
  • Catherine McAuley Center - Child care facility for children of immigrants, while their parents are in classes. Mary Schell leading this today.
  • AbbeHealth/Aging Services - Connecting the older folks in our commuity to others with technology. We need a Leader.
  • ChildServe - Providing learning/testing tools for this organization to serve their kids. Rachel Rigdon leading.
Our Board will review the budget and the Fall Fundraiser results to activiate the next grant project.

Volunteering is an essential parts of these grants and our club:
  • Volunteering members with the 3 grant organizations. The engages us with serving our community.
  • Raise your hand to lead our Community Service projects. Doug has led us well to this point.
Catherine McAuley Center child care room looks like this today.  Immigrant clients need this room updated for children during their classes.  New tables and chairs, security cameras, and tablet electronics will be ordered soon, for better care of the kids.

Global Scholar Applications are Underway
Our Rotary District sponsors a Global Scholar each year.  This provides funding to a graduate student in one of 7 Rotary Areas of Focus, shown below.

Sunrise Rotary has a chance to be the Club sponsor for Nicholas Newman, most recently from AmeriCore at Matthew 25!  We hope you saw his Immigrant Food Research program at our Aug 26 club meeting at Matthew 25.

Nick is starting the application process now, after returning home to California from his project in Cedar Rapids this summer.  He hopes to have his Food Research program published in the future.
